Review : The Crypt of the Capuchins of Joseph Roth

Complice a day when I'm not very good, finally found the time to review one of my last readings.

The book I read is The Crypt of the Capuchins of Joseph Roth.

The story is that of Franz Ferdinand Trotta just before the First World War and tells of his difficulty in finding a personal and inner position in a society that was changing rapidly in spite of appearances, leaving behind an era of pomp and glory and executing a rapid decline and decadence.

The Trotta, unable to decipher and understand the change remains suspended between two worlds, one (the past) that's out of hand, and a (future) does not understand.

Master towards the end of the book is a piece in which the Trotter is on the inside of the Crypt of the Capuchins, and in that momendo with words that belong to the classics of literature, 'author equates the feeling of loneliness and sovraporre , of defeat, of loss of empire with those of Trotter in which he lived (the Austrian) next to the forfeiture, but until last unable to understand and adapt to changing historical, economic, cultural that were taking place.

interesting addition to the story told him I found today.

I believe that somehow we now belong to the Western world we are at a turning point.

And in an age where we like it or not putting on the wheels of history are in motion.

is for us to understand, adapt or fit, or maybe not for us, but sometimes our children or grandchildren can live a personal Crypt of the Capuchins.

If you want to listen instead of read address to the good service of Radio 3, where in addition to this, a number of other literary classics
